While the children of all classes were entertaining their parents with Christmas songs, poems and dance moves the PTP was busy making tea, coffee, hot chocolate and dishing out very tasty festive treats for four hours!
A warm and festive welcome
We set up our festive café in the large Reef classroom. A very pine smelling Christmas tree set the tone for the morning, kindly on loan from the Christmas tree sellers in the Rugby Club car park. Michael Bublé was crooning some Christmas tunes while Ms Hunt provided a super slide show of her adventures to Antarctica. Of course, the highlight was seeing some photos of the inside of the long-awaited new school. It looks fab, so much space!
The PTP put on a great ‘spread’. Teas, coffees (even percolated coffee), hot chocolate that sent your calorie intake for the day into orbit and fresh lemon and mint water. And we couldn’t offer you something to drink without something to nibble on too.
The Greystones CNS parents pulled out all their baking utensils and put them to work to produce some mouth watering treats. We had so many cakes and treats that we were able to share some with the weary teachers who had toiled so hard to get their pupils singing and dancing in tune and in time.
All the leftovers (not that there was much) were donated to the homeless.
The PTP would like to thank the Parents Council of St. Laurences and Delgany National Schools for lending us lots of crockery and hot water flasks. We would also like to thank the Greystones CNS teachers for giving us a wonderful array of Christmas concerts to kick-start the festive season.
